[MAUI] UPDATED 5/23/25 – Mākena State Park - State Parks is issuing an Invitation for Bids (“IFB”) to qualified parties interested in a Mobile Food Truck Concession Agreement to operate a Mobile Food Truck (“MFT”) Concession at Mākena State Park. [OʻAHU] UPDATED 5/21/25 – Diamond Head State Monument (DHSM): Updated June Operating Hours - The rockfall mitigation project began January 6, 2025 and will run until September 5, 2025 or upon completion of the construction project at the Kahala Tunnel. Please check the Diamond Head State Monument website for updated park operation hours during this time.

[MOLOKA’I] - UPDATE 5/19/25: Pala’au State Park Pavilion: Due to continued renovation work, the pavilion closure has been extended from June 1 to July 1. The Pala’au Canping Area has been CLOSED from May 30 to June 30, 2025.

[KAUAʻI] - UPDATE 3/21/25: Pā‘ula‘ula State Historic Site - Due to construction improvements, the park closure will begin starting March 24 until further notice.

ʻIolani Palace State Monument

UPDATED: 7/24/24 – Kamaʻāina Sundays, a once-a-month event where Hawaii residents can tour the palace for free, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The special day includes live entertainment, family-friendly activities and food vendors, and a free tour for Hawaii residents. Any adult with a Hawaii ID, driver’s license or proof of residency may get four free tickets. Visitors may purchase tickets at the regular price.

    Description

    ‘Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawaii’s monarchy, is a marvel of opulence, innovation and political intrigue that tells of a time when their Majesties, King Kalakaua and his sister and successor, Queen Liliuokalani, walked its celebrated halls.

    Today, you can enjoy one of the most spectacular living restorations in all of Polynesia and immerse yourself in Hawaii’s royal heritage. Officially dedicated in 1882, ‘Iolani Palace served as the setting for the monarchs and their courts on formal occasions.

    The palace hosts events, offers facility rentals, and has a gift shop. Landscaped grounds are popular for informal lawn picnics and Friday noon band concerts.  ‘Iolani Palace is a National Historic Landmark.

    The Palace is Administered by the Division of State Parks, but is managed by the Friends of ‘Iolani Palace under a long term lease. For more information, please contact the Friends of ‘Iolani Palace:

    Tours

    Guided tours of the palace interior are available by advance reservations (fee charged) – call the Friends of ʻIolani Palace at (808) 522-0832; tour hours are 9 am to 2:15 pm from Wednesday through Saturday.

    Wheelchair Lift Available

    People with mobility disabilities are able to join tours at the ʻIolani Palace State Monument. A custom inclined platform lift was installed in 2016 to allow access to the basement floor.  Interior floors may be accessed via elevator.
